Good morning everyone! Thought I would share my magical day in the Shanghai Botanical Gardens with you.
Although it is Wednesday, we had no school today due to an important East Asian conference that took place in Shanghai today. Several of the major roads were closed, so our school was closed too!
It wasn't the day to be taking public transportation or cabs, so I thought it would be the perfect day to walk across the street and take in the natural beauty of the Shanghai Botanical Gardens. I am so lucky to have this directly across the street from my campus. It feels like a magical world as soon as you enter the gate of the gardens. All the air pollution suddenly disappears and the smell of flowers and fresh cut grass fills the air. So refreshing and peaceful.
I started off the day by having a picnic with my girlfriends on the grass. We got take out from our favorite restaurant, Wagas (the one that we run to every Thursday). After our picnic, Jeanne and Martina left and Kevin met me to do some paddle boating in the river in the center of the gardens. (No, we are not back in a relationship, just kind of dating until the end of the year and enjoying each other's company hehe).
Paddle boating was quite the workout! We had to pedal the entire time. Even though I have been going to a personal trainer three times per week, my thighs were burning! I wasn't very good at steering (I almost drove us into a palm tree), so I put Kevin in charge of the steering wheel. It was so relaxing boating through the canals and people-watching along the way.
I could not have had a more relaxing day!
Well, I hope you are all doing well! I will be home in 7.5 weeks. I cannot wait to see you!!!!!!!!!
I will be going to Vietnam June 29th-July 7th. My friends from NYC (Renee and Jenna) are visiting me in Shanghai July 9th-13th...and then I am home July 14th!!!!!!!!!!!!
XOXOXOXOX
