Today was a jam-packed day full of adventuring! I organized a group of 6 of us (Jojo, Max, Jose, Alba, Candice and myself) to head to the beautiful Yuyuan Gardens and go to the Shanghai Stadium to watch the East Asian soccer match.
The 6 of us left at noon today and took the subway to the Yuyuan Gardens - beautiful and serene gardens with coy ponds and traditional Chinese architecture. We explored the gardens for a while, and then I started chatting with this Chinese woman who recommended a local tea house; I love tea, so I liked this idea! Jojo, Max and I followed the lady down a few alleys and up some stairs to a beautiful traditional style tea house overlooking the bund and gardens. We had a beautiful tea ceremony and got to sample 5 different Chinese teas (black lychee, baby jasmine, oolong, green tea, and ginseng. We thoroughly enjoyed our teahouse experience and felt very relaxed sipping our afternoon tea.
Following the teahouse, the three of us hopped back on the subway and met a bunch of our friends at the Shanghai Outdoor Stadium to watch our first Chinese soccer match, Honestly, I had no clue what was going on in the game, but it was a lot of fun learning all kinds of Chinese chants, waving red soccer flags and enjoying all the pride and spirit.
I am now exhausted, smelly, and ready for bed! I have spin class tomorrow at 8am with my Australian and British friends, so time for a good sleep.
Love and miss you all! XO
